1. Must be self-closing

6. Fire Door must have “Listed” Hardware
7. If a Fire Door is held open, it must have a “UL-listed”, heat fusible link
or smoke detection device ( or be tied into the fire alarm system)
8. Pairs of Fire Doors with astragals which require astragals that overlap
(A Coordinator or open back strike should be used for proper closing )
9. On pairs of Fire Doors required to meet Egress shall not be equipped
with an astragal that inhibits the free use of either leaf.
10. Fire Doors with Safe-Wire glass Lite kits
a. The glass frame and glazing bead must be metal
b. The glass must be Safe-Wire not less then 1/4” thick
c. Maximum glass size allowed:
20 Minute = 1296 sq. in. per lite
45 Minute = 1296 sq. in. per lite ( E label )
45 Minute = 1296 sq. in. per lite ( C label )
60 Minute = 100 sq. in. per lite ( B label )
90 Minute = 100 sq. in. per lite ( B label )
90 Minute = ( D label ) - No glass permitted
3 Hour = ( A label ) No glass permitted
11. A Fire Door with a Louver, must have a Fusible Link Louver
12. No Louvers allowed in 20 Minute Doors (typically Smoke doors)
13. No Louvers allowed in fire-rated doors with lite kits
14. No Louvers allowed in doors with Panic Exit Hardware or Stairwells
15. Maximum Fire-Rated louver size is 24x24
